Over the 2023–24 academic year the UW community has been able to engage in a variety of events, lectures and educational resources designed to explore our history of disability access, and build our knowledge on how to foster disability inclusion across our institution. This yearlong campaign could not have been possible without great campus partners. A BIG thank you to all the 504at50 planning group members as well as the numerous units and departments that hosted events, large and small. As we wrap up the successful year, please consider engaging in one of the remaining opportunities!

Spring Spotlight: Husky Giving Day 2024 — April 4 Husky Giving Day is a celebration of our collective impact. From supporting students and faculty to fueling innovative programs in research, every gift makes a different. On and leading up to Thursday April 4th you can champion the people, programs, and causes closest to your heart. Here are a few disability and accessibility causes to consider:
In August 2023, the Department of Justice issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to provide additional regulatory guidance related to web and mobile app accessibility. The Office of the ADA Coordinator has been taking proactive steps with institutional partners to review and prepare for potential changes to current University systems.
The UW Disability Staff and Faculty Association (DSFA) supports our vibrant community for faculty and staff who identify as disabled, D/deaf, chronically ill, Mad, neurodivergent, or experiencing mental health concerns. This April 2024 DSFA is hosting a week of opportunities to build community and discuss, “What does community in disability look like? How can we build it at the UW?”
