Visa & Immigration Updates
O-1A Extraordinary Ability Visas As part of UW’s pilot program expanding O-1 and EB-1B visa sponsorship, ISO has added a section to its Visa Guidance for Unit Administrators regarding O-1A extraordinary ability visas. The new content includes eligibility and process information regarding this unique visa type. We encourage units to share this content and information with both employees and leadership. More content regarding EB-1B sponsorship is forthcoming.
Other ISO Updates
UW has ended its pause on filing new H-1B petitions in connection with the $100,000 fee announced in September. ISO is working with school, college and campus leadership to identify paths forward for affected cases.
The Department of Labor has resumed processing on visa-related applications. This means that ISO can continue to move H-1B cases forward, with a focus on H visa requests with a start date within the next two months.
In light of USCIS’s announcement that it will no longer accept checks or money orders for filing fees, ISO no longer accepts checks for payment of USCIS filing fees. ISO has updated its Visa Fees page accordingly with best practices on how to use the G-1450 Credit Card Authorization Form.
System Update: Ideal-Logic
Ideal-Logic, our tool for processing Sexual Misconduct Declarations (SMDs), will now cancel in-progress forms not completed within 30 days.
If a candidate’s form is cancelled and they are still on track to be hired, a new form must be initiated in Ideal-Logic.
Important Reminder
To ensure accurate tracking and routing, please send all forms to [email protected] rather than to individual staff members.
